West Australian futsal team Cambio Cumbre has asserted itself as a powerhouse of Australian futsal, winning its second-straight Futsal Oz National title at Mount Evelyn.

Cambio Cumbre defeated Vic Vipers FC 5-1 in a final scoreline that was not indicative of the intensity of the match.

The tournament marked the final time that Vic Vipers FC will compete in a Futsal Oz-sanctioned event, turning its attention to other leagues. It was also the team’s fourth-straight appearance in the finals, and as history now shows, its fourth-straight loss.

Dynamic Cambrio player Rico Zulkarnian scored two goals in the final, adding to his tally that saw him finish the prestigious tournanment with the ‘Golden Boot’ (most goals).

Zulkarnian, dubbed the ‘Z Factor’ after a number of outrageously spectacular goals over the course of the three-day event, was also awarded Man of the Match.

Samim Rohani scored two goals in the final, while Gerardo Soto picked up one goal. In fact, Cambio Cumbre scored all of the goals in the match, thanks to an unfortunate own goal to Salman Alhammadi.

Cambio made its way to the Grand Final via a close 4-2 win over tournament surprise package South Brisbane, who finished on top of Group B. Vic Vipers secured its Grand Final chance after a 4-2 victory over arch-rival Pascoe Vale FC.

This was the last tournament known as the ‘FAFL’ with the name changed to ‘Series Futsal Australia,’ starting from the next tournament in September later this year.
