Adelaide Fusion captain Jamie Carbone is confident of a strong showing at the Series Futsal Australia Cup in Perth next week.

The reigning South Australian Futsal League champions wee drawn in Group B for the Australian tournament, taking on FC Balwyn, Canning Ultra Tigers FC, Hume FC and Stirling FC.

The South Australian-based Fusion club has competed in all eight previous Series Futsal Australia Cups, with its best result coming last year where they made it to the semi-final.

Carbone says that avoiding the ‘Group of Death’ was a good result, however, his side will compete against a many unknown factors.

“I thought the draw was good for us, but we haven’t played many of the teams in our group,” Carbone told SeriesFutsal.com.

“We don’t know too much about the teams that we will face at this point, so it’s a bit of an unknown.

“Our team looks good. We have no injuries and pretty much our regular full team of 10 players, plus a couple of extras to build up the team.”

Carbone says that the aim is to make the semi-finals again and push for a berth in the final.

“I think we should get to the semi-finals and then we’ll see what happens from there,: he said.

“The past experience should come in handy. Everyone should know how to prepare. We’ve contested all of the Series Futsal Australia Cups. We made the semis before a couple of years ago – we know what it takes. Now we need to go one step further.”

The Series Futsal Australia Cup will be held at the WA State Futsal Centre in Perth from October 7-9.
