AUS: Pascoe Vale wins inaugural FAFL Cup

Pascoe Vale win inaugural FAFL cup in 2012

Pascoe Vale FC secured the inaugural Futsal Oz Australian Futsal League Cup with a courageous 4-2 win over Western Australia SFL5 at the Brunswick Futsal Stadium.

After the two dynamite teams played a fierce group stage match yesterday, the scene was set for a cracking final, and the teams delivered with a nail biting, end-to-end style clash.

Pascoe Vale hit the ground running in the first half, with goals from Joao Da Silva and Sofiane Soufi. The momentum was in the home team’s favour until Diego Garcia – WA’s top scorer – gave a life line to his side by converting a brilliant turn and shoot combination to lift the morale of all those wearing yellow going into the break.

WA’s Nestor Fonseca levelled the scored early in the second half before Brenno Polatti sent the crowd and all of the Pascoe Vale members into raptures as he bagged a late double – including one of the goals of the tournament by lobbing the keeper from his own defence – to cap off a brilliant F.A.F.L campaign for coach Paul Vidic and his boys.

Soufi was awarded the Golden Boot award with nine tournament goals, West Australia SFL5’s Tiago Fracasso earned the Best and Fairest accolade, while Vic Vipers FC keeper Kieran Pates was handed the Golden Glove, despite his team being knocked out in the semi-final.
