Pascoe Vale FC’s run as the kings of the Futsal Oz Australian Futsal League Cup came to a crashing end with Sydney Magic winning the crown at the brand-new Mount Evelyn Futsal Stadium in Melbourne’s east.
The Sydney team secured its historic win by defeating the Vic Vipers in a tense penalty shoot-out.
It was the second game in a row that Sydney had to win via penalty shoot-outs, defeating reigning champs Pascoe Vale in a semi-final shoot-out.
Despite the scores being level 5-all at the end of regular time, Sydney’s Robert Maiorana was the difference, securing the man of the match honours, guiding his team to a 2-1 win in the penalties.
The result was a bitter pill for the Vic Vipers to swallow, having become the runners up in the past two FAFL Cups.
The game was the first major tournament played at the fabulous new four-court Futsal Oz stadium in Mount Evelyn and featured a great attendance for the final day of play.
