AUS: Hume sets its sights on SFA glory

Hume manager Niko Ignatiadis says that Hume FC is in a great position to claim the biggest prize in Australian futsal – the Series Futsal Australia Cup.

Hume secured its place in the competition after finishing third in the 2016 Series Futsal Victoria premiership, before going on to win the recent Foz Cup.

The Foz Cup was Hume’s first major victory in any futsal competition.

After defeating Balwyn and Fitzroy in the opening two rounds of the current Series Futsal Victoria competition, Hume is riding a wave of confidence, and team manager Ignatiadis says that the team will be looking to continue its rich run.

“I am pleased with the way we have started season with two wins from two games – we can’t ask more than that,” he told SeriesFutsal.com.

“And beating two teams who will be in Perth for the Cup (Balwyn and Fitzroy) means that the boys are full of confidence.

“There is a feeling of excitement in the team competing with the best in Australia, but our preparation and attitude is the same for SFA and SFV.”

Given its recent solid performances, Ignatiadis says that the team’s expectation is to take victory.

“My expectations are the same wherever we play, and that is to win,” he said.

“We are going there to hopefully win the Cup. It will be tough, but I’m quite confident in my team.

“We just missed out on semis in the last two competitions, but that is in the past.

“We are going to take it one match at a time and don’t really want to think to far ahead. We’ll see how it all plays out over there.”
