In what was shaping up to be the game of the round Ashburton were looking for an important win to stay within reach of the top 3 whilst Mickleham were only 1 point away from top spot. It was Mickleham who would open the scoring through Nathan Long who has now scored for the 3rd game running but they would not hold onto the lead with Ashburton’s top scorer Rasoul Bahmani tying the game up at 1 a piece.
Mickleham’s captain Stefan Radman would score a rare goal as he restored his teams lead in the first period of the second half. Mickleham were looking hard to break down with Daniel Bartolo in goals until a moment of brilliance from Ashburton’s captain Mehran Sahfiei as he split open Mickleham’s defence before sending a long range toe poke bomb straight over the head of Bartolo. Shafiei’s fantastic goal reignited Ashburton as they began to push now for a winner. A controversial side ball went the way of Ashburton with Mickleham claiming the ball had come off the finger tips of goalkeeper Kasmir but Ashburton would take the ball forward with target Zahiri finishing to put Ashburton in the lead for the first time in the game with only minutes remaining. Mickleham pushed back for an equaliser in the dying stages but were kept out by Kasmir as Ashburton would hold on for a huge win.

Moreland Futsal Club (1st) 6-1 (7th) Monash Futsal Club

Monash pulled out a great performance last week in their narrow loss to Mickleham but would need to step up even higher this week against the top of the table Monash. Moreland started slowly as they did not have any of their new signings for the start of the game with an original Moreland 5 starting including the return of Baris Sahin following the birth of his first child. Moreland would soon click into gear however with Adam Cooper turning it on to score three goals in a row to take his team to a 3-0 half time lead.
Moreland kicked off where they left off in the first half this time it was Hussein Dehaini’s turn to dominate. With an early goal to add to his first half assist Dehaini started the half well and after a 10 minute lull scored his second goal of the game. With Salih Sefil chipping in to take Moreland to an unassailable 6-0 lead the game was all but over with Tom Natoli adding a consolation goal in the dying minutes to grab one goal for Monash in a big Moreland win.

Collingwood Futsal Club (5th) 3-4 (8th) Mcleod Futsal Club
COLL – C.Holmes 2, T.Sadler
MCL – N.Toosi 2, A.Ahmadi, H.Shekari
Mcleod looked like a side in recovery with a full squad including the return of their old captain Ali Ahmadi. Despite looking better it was Collingwood who would open the scoring through their captain Cameron Holmes. Mcleod’s defensive rock Navid Toosi would level the scoring as he picked up a rare as the game went in 1-1 at half time.
Collingwood’s x factor Tremayne Sadler would put them back in the lead in the second half but Collingwood were struggling to extend their lead as they let Mcleod back into the game once more as Ali Ahmadi would bring the game level for the second time. Cam Holmes looked to rectify the score when he sealed his brace but once again Collingwood let it slip with Navid Toosi also finishing off his brace to tie the game for the 3rd time. The final twist in the tale occured when Kamal Fayazi’s back heel found Hooman Shekari who rolled his defender before smacking the ball into the top corner to put Mcleod in the lead for the first time all game in the final minute to secure only their second win of the season.

Hampton Futsal Club (2nd) 4-4 (6th) Brimbank Futsal Club
HAM – M.Lettini 3, O.Hummenyj-Jameson
BRIM – A.Hassani 2, M.Rezaie, Z.Hussaini
The game started off with a bang as Michael Lettini hit a ridiculous toe poke from the sideline that rocketed into the top corner to give Hampton an early lead. Unlike the last time these two teams met however Brimbank did have a response to the early Hampton pressure as they were struck awake by the Lettini goal with Ahmed Hassani scoring back to back goals to put Brimbank in the lead. Up 2-1 Brimbank continued their run as Morteza Rezaie scored to make it 3-1 to Brimbank as the first half clock hit 0.
The second half started the same way it ended as Brimbank stretched their lead with Zia Husseini this time beating Nick Dean in goals. As a big upset was brewing Hampton needed a spark without their manager Grant Rowley there to whip his team into shape. It was Lettini who would bring his team back into the game as he scored two quick fire goals to bring the score back to 4-3. Brimbank had a habit of giving up leads with today being no different as the game was tied at 4-4 thanks to a Hummeyj-Jameson goal. The final 4 minutes saw neither team able to finish despite some golden opportunities as the game finished as only the 4th draw of the season, a common occurrence for Brimbank who have been part of every single one.
