VIC: Melbourne City FC supports renamed elite futsal club

Long-standing elite team Hampton Street FC has changed its club name and secured a new club partner ahead of its second State League Championship campaign.

The club will be known as the Melbourne Futsal Club and will enjoy support from leading A-League organisation Melbourne City FC.

After going down in a tight battle with the Western Wolves FC in Friday evening’s promotion play-off match, the club’s elite mens team will compete in the State League Championship wearing Melbourne City’s official team wear.

The club will be adorned in City’s brand-new 2017/18-specification home kits, while using the 2016/17 away strip as its secondary uniform.

The club has also expanded into the Under 21s Series Futsal Youth league, played every Tuesday evening at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium.

And to solidify the new partnership between the Melbourne Futsal Club and Melbourne City, all of the futsal club’s junior players (Under 8s and up) will wear the official Melbourne City playing uniforms.

The opening round of the 2017/18 State League Championship will be held at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium this Sunday afternoon. Melbourne FC will take on recently promoted FC Preston in the first game.

The opening round of the 2017/18 Youth premiership, also at Thomastown, will start next Tuesday.
