MET – D.Redzepovic 2, A.Redzepovic, K.Ayache, T.Grgic & A.Zahra

Next up we saw a mouthwatering prospect as Melbourne faced off against Metropolitan for the title. With promotion on the line a huge crowd had rolled in to the Thomastown stadium. Metropolitan didn’t waste any time as they struck in the opening minute through a Dino Redzepovic free kick, before a sweeping counter attack saw Dino tap home his second to put Melbourne on the back foot and show that Metropolitan’s captain was here to play. Melbourne pulled one back through a Jesse Papas strike, before Dino turned the ball into his own net for an own goal to have the game level. In the final fifteen seconds of the half Metropolitan were ahead again as Alija Redzepovic put the ball away to have Metro leading 3-2 at the half time break.

With Melbourne fighting to get back into the contest, a stunning strike from Khaled Ayache of the crossbar and in opened up a two goal cushion. Ayache then turned form hero to villain as he was sent off leaving Metro down to four for two minutes. They weathered that storm and then added to their lead when Tomislav Grgic tapped home to all but seal the result. Late on Adrian Zahra broke through and finished to seal the deal as Metropolitan rise again to Series Futsal Victoria, winning the league with one game to spare.
