Melbourne Amazons FC 2-1 CF Brunswick
MELB – A.Imran & A.Kelly
BWK – B.Carvajal

Our first game of round two saw the newly formed Melbourne Amazons take on another new side in Brunswick. After a scrappy start to the game Brunswick got the opening goal through experienced head Barbara Carvajal. Brunswick maintained that lead up until seconds before the half time break when a wonder strike from Aisha Imran found the top corner from inside her own half time ensure the scores would be even going into the half time break.

The second half began in the same vein as the first with few chances being created from either side, before Ashleigh Kelly found herself one on one before slotting through the keepers legs to give the Amazons the lead for the first time in the game. They managed to maintain the lead all the way until the final whistle claiming their first three points in the history.

PRES –
CARL – J.Byrne 3, E.Bishop 3, C.Johns & S.Oddo

Next up we saw Preston coming off a round one defeat face off against Carlton who recorded a big win in last weeks clash. The Heart drew first blood when a lovely ball from Nicole Ritchie found Jess Byrne at the back post who was on hand to tap home. Stef Oddo would soon double the advantage before Ella Bishop netted to make it 3-0 at the half time break. Carlton did not let up in the second half as they piled on a further five goals which saw both Byrne and Bishop complete hat tricks as well as Claudia Johns getting her name on the scoresheet, as Carlton make it two big wins on the trot and with star players Rebecca Davies and Katie Foster still to return, could we be seeing a championship winning Heart side in the making?

STATS

Moreland FC 2-2 (1-0 Penalties) Pascoe Vale FC

MOR – R.Saber & D.Galluccio
PVFC – M.Marques & L.Woods
The final game of the night saw two titles favourites go head to head as Moreland faced off against Pascoe Vale. In a dull first half which saw neither side worried of a mistake the sides went into the half time break locked at 0-0 with few chances created either way.
The deadlock was broken early in the second half as Marcela Marques finished from a corner, before Liesl Woods doubled the advantage as Pascoe looked to be getting out to an important victory. Moreland pulled one back through Rebecca Saber as she finished on her left foot and just moments later they were level as Daniella Galluccio had a simple finish after forcing her way past Maddie Nobbs. That is how it stayed as the game went to penalties and over 20 penalties were taken and all missed before Melissa Missailids finally put an end to the game converting her penalty the second time around to seal an important three points for Moreland.
