Series Futsal Victoria – Womens – Round 2
Melbourne Amazons FC 2-1 CF Brunswick
MELB – A.Imran & A.Kelly
BWK – B.Carvajal
Our first game of round two saw the newly formed Melbourne Amazons take on another new side in Brunswick. After a scrappy start to the game Brunswick got the opening goal through experienced head Barbara Carvajal. Brunswick maintained that lead up until seconds before the half time break when a wonder strike from Aisha Imran found the top corner from inside her own half time ensure the scores would be even going into the half time break.
The second half began in the same vein as the first with few chances being created from either side, before Ashleigh Kelly found herself one on one before slotting through the keepers legs to give the Amazons the lead for the first time in the game. They managed to maintain the lead all the way until the final whistle claiming their first three points in the history.

The second game of the night saw Fitzroy take to the court for the first time this season as they faced a Balwyn side coming off a good win last week. In a close start to the game both sides had their fair share of chances before Fitzroy found an opener through new player Erin Clout making it
1-0. Almost immidietly Ili Jakab would double the advantage, before Ebru Efe got her first of the contest making it 3-0 at the half time break. The second half saw Fitzroy continue to pile on the scoreboard pressure as Em Coppock got her first of the game before a further two from Efe completed her hat trick. Rachel West would get a deserved consolation for Balwyn with a tidy finish but Fitzroy would not be stopped with Efe bagging her fourth before two more from Coppock completed her hat trick and a big win first up.

FC Preston 0-8 FC Carlton Heart
PRES –
CARL – J.Byrne 3, E.Bishop 3, C.Johns & S.Oddo
Next up we saw Preston coming off a round one defeat face off against Carlton who recorded a big win in last weeks clash. The Heart drew first blood when a lovely ball from Nicole Ritchie found Jess Byrne at the back post who was on hand to tap home. Stef Oddo would soon double the advantage before Ella Bishop netted to make it 3-0 at the half time break. Carlton did not let up in the second half as they piled on a further five goals which saw both Byrne and Bishop complete hat tricks as well as Claudia Johns getting her name on the scoresheet, as Carlton make it two big wins on the trot and with star players Rebecca Davies and Katie Foster still to return, could we be seeing a championship winning Heart side in the making?
