The Doctor waves goodbye!

Series Futsal Victoria and V-League legend Andre Caro will be departing Pascoe Vale to join Al-Nasr of the United Arab Emirates Futsal League.

The news comes after Caro took to social media to inform his fans of the minimum 8-month hiatus he’ll take from SFV whilst in Dubai with wife Anita Caro.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and am thrilled to be able to invest my knowledge, skills and time into this incredible club.” The Brazilian posted.

In a short interview with “The Doctor”, Caro provided insight into his move, how it happened and what his future entails.

“I fly on Wednesday night, tomorrow night. I have a contract for the 2020/21 season which will finish in April 2021. I will be the assistant coach of the first team and will be working very close with head coach Rafael Fogageiro.”

“They have been following me on social media for many years, a few months ago he (Fogageiro) asked me to be his assistant coach and in the past month I decided to take the opportunity.”

The 4-time MVP and 4-time Golden Boot winner also discussed the logistics behind the Al-Nasr system. Caro will be joined by four young Brazilian players in this new project.

“The team is allowed to have four foreigners. They are all Brazilians and are all under 20 years old. They are coming from some of the biggest clubs in Brazil.”

Caro is a 9-time Series Futsal Victoria Champion, 3-time Series Futsal Australia Champion and has lifted the Futsal Oz Cup 10 times, all for Pascoe Vale. The Brazilian flanker is undoubtedly one of if not the most coveted player in Series Futsal Victoria/V-League history.

Current Golden Boot holder and former Pascoe Vale player now turned rival Cosimo Russo made comments on the move earlier.

“It’s not surprising and it’s good to see all the hard work he’s put in pay off as he’s been heavily involved in the coaching aspect of futsal for years. Unfortunately, the Moreland/Pascoe Vale rivalry has lost a key figure but I look forward to seeing how they cope without him.”

With the Lions now losing key figures such as Caro, Alejandro Gomez and Alisson Lima, the question is made; is this where Pascoe Vale’s true demise begins?
