Hume FC captain Nejditt Sahin says that his team still needs to improve if his ‘Black Army’ is to be a genuine Series Futsal Victoria contender this season.

After three rounds, Hume currently leads the premiership, locked on nine points with Pascoe Vale and Brunswick – all of whom have begun the title chance without defeat.

Hume’s rich vein of form comes after winning the prestigious Foz Cup at the end of last season, as well as proving competitive (if unsuccessful) at the recent Series Futsal Australia tournament in Perth.

Captain Sahin says that he couldn’t have asked for a better start to the new season, but he knows that there is still more work to do.

“We have started the season in the best possible way but this doesn’t mean we step our foot off the pedal,” Sahin said.

“It is only the very beginning and we have plenty of work to do. We take it one game at a time and do not get ahead of ourselves.

“Teams will come out harder to try and beat us which will make it extremely difficult but being the team we are, we will fight and work till the final whistle. That’s the black army spirit we have developed within ourselves over the years.”

Hume will take on Brunswick this Sunday at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium, with the winner to remain undefeated.

“There is a lot at stakes this week as both teams are undefeated which should be a great game to watch for the fans,” Sahin said.

“We are confident within each other and back each other up on the courts, but this is the beauty of the game it can go either way depending on the performance and form of players or coaching staff on the day.”
