Emerging Series Futsal force Ashburton Warriors are on the look out for a new goal keeper with the imminent departure of current keeper Omid Azami.

Azami is set to move back to his home in Canada, forcing Ashburton to look for a new keeper.

The team has recruited Omid Abdolahi, who is currently unavailable, giving Ashburton a short-term headache.

After a shaky start to the 2016/17 season with three losses, Ashburton bounced back with a comfortable victory against FC Collingwood last week.

This week’s match against Fitzroy is a crucial one, and according to manager Hamid Hassanikhoo, the keeper question needs to be answered as soon as possible.

“We are looking for a good keeper because our current keeper Omid Azami will go back to his country (Canada) very soon as he finished his study in Melbourne,” Hassanikhoo told SeriesFutsal.com.

“Omid Abdolahi joined us which is perfect, but he is on vacation and he is unavailable right now.

“When he comes back, he will help us. We are happy to have him in our team again, but we’re going to need someone else too.

“We are trying to be a professional team and the Series Futsal premiership is a very long season and every team needs to have two or three keepers in your team and we only have one keeper at the moment.”

Despite the goal keeper headache, Hassanikhoo says that he is pleased with the performance of his team after four rounds.

”I tried to find Collingwood’s weaknesses and figured out how to stop their game plan,” he said.

“It’s very important to have a plan for every minute of the game and I think we were successful against Collingwood.
