The exciting Series Futsal debut of French freestyle footballer Sean Garnier is just the start of a massive week for the world champion at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium.

Garnier played a starring role for Fitzroy in its 7-5 loss to reigning champions Pascoe Vale yesterday, scoring two goals and helping to draw the biggest crowd ever seen at Thomastown.

After his stunning debut, Garnier has confirmed he will return for two more appearances at the same venue this week.

Garnier will compete in a one-off event titled ‘The Challenge’ this Friday evening. The event will see the French freestyle ace play with selected Series Futsal stars, taking on a team of guns led by local street footballer Daniel ‘D10’ Cappellaro.

The Friday match will be followed by another game for Garnier with Fitzroy where they will take on FC Balwyn.

Series Futsal CEO Peter Parthimos was blown away by the crowd at Thomastown, and promised that this was just the beginning of a big week of Series Futsal action.

“People talk with their feet – having Sean Garnier at Thomastown was a huge success,” said Parthimos.

“The crowd attendance was great – not just for the match between Pascoe Vale and Fitzroy, but all the way through the four games. It was fantastic to see people enjoying world class futsal.

“We’ve been able to secure Sean to compete in one more match with Fitzroy (this Sunday against Balwyn), and we’ve also got him for a special one-off event on Friday evening.

“The Friday match will be pure entertainment – futsal with a heavy dose of freestyle flare.

“And if the Pascoe Vale/Fitzroy match is anything to go by, then that flare will be replaced with flames for Sean’s second Series Futsal match against Balwyn on Sunday!”
