No extra injury concerns for double header week

Players and managers are not concerned over the risk of injury ahead of the double-header Series Futsal Victoria games this week.

Each team will play two games within three days this week (Friday evening and Sunday afternoon), placing a heavy emphasis on performance and recovery.

But the extra game is not an issue for the clubs, who say that their players will be able to manage the work load and get through without issues.

Hume FC manager Niko Ignatiadis and Pascoe Vale FC says that experience at Series Futsal Australia level – where teams can play as many as five or six games in a three day period – will put clubs in a strong position.

“I highly doubt it will increase the chance of injury,” said Hume FC manager Niko Ignatiadis.

“At the Series Futsal Australia in October, we played four games in two days.

“All the teams have big squads, and most the teams are very fit. If there will be injuries, it won’t be due to two games in three days.”

Caro agreed with Ignatiadis, saying that the big winner of the double header is the fans.

“Players love playing as much as the supporters love watching the games,” he said.

“Having two games in one week is a bonus, not a hinderance.

“I don’t think two games over three days increase the chance of getting injured. When we play Nationals can we play up to seven games in a short period. I don’t feel it’s an issue at all.”
