2016/17 State League Championship – Round 12:

Preston Futsal Club (8th) 3-13 (6th) F.C. Carlton Heart

PRE – D.Paleologou 2, A.Retoulis
MOR – S.Dehani 5, R.Saglam 2, S.Sefil 2, T.Korkmaz, B.Sahin, S.Murat, S.Akyol

The last time these two teams met it was a fiery and passionate encounter and much the same was expected today. It was Moreland who took the sting out of the game however as they took over the game early and never let go. The game was almost over at halftime as a 1-2-3 punch hat trick from Hussein Dehani left Preston in a daze. In the second half it was a case of Moreland piling on the goals as the whole team was getting involved scoring and assisting for one another but it was Dehani who was too powerful and too much for Preston to handle. As for Preston this was their last game before the Christmas break which could not come soon enough as they will need time to rest their injured players before January.

Man of the Match – Hussein Dehani (Moreland FC)

Mcleod Futsal Club (7th) 5-3 (4th) Monash Futsal Club

MCL – A.Rostami 2, H.Shekari 2, N.Roussidis
MON – E.Benjamin, T.Natoli, M.Taha

Mcleod saw 3 new faces for tonights game while Monash had 2 new players in an interesting clash which would see whose recent additions would gel quicker. In a tight first half it was the prolific Mcleod goalscorer Arash Rostami that started and ended the half with goals as he gave Mcleod a 2-1 lead with only 7 before half time. Two quick goals to start off the second half made things look grim for Monash as Mcleod raced away thanks to their second star scorer Hooman Shekari. For the rest of the game it was a case of Mcleod holding back Monash who got back into the game but were kept at bay for long enough for Mcleod to grab only their 3rd win of the season.

F.C. Carlton Heart (1st) 5-2 (2nd) Western Wolves FC

CARL – V.Cruz 2, A.Ahmed, E.Simsek, C.Rajab
WW – T.Coulibaly, E.Klancevic

The battle between the top two sides had created an air of excitement around the stadium as the fans packed in to Futsal Oz Brunswick to see the Heart and the Wolves duke it out. It was the Heart who struck first as the pacey Ernie Simsek beat Ali Klancevic in goal before a powerful strike into the top corner from Tiema Coulibaly equalised the scores by half time. The Wolves took the lead for the first time in the match as Elvedin Klancevic’s pressing led to an error from Cruz as Klancevic poked the ball home past Tamburrino. Carlton needing to lift then had Victor Cruz atone for his mistake as he weaved through the Wolves defence before being brought down to earn his team a penalty which was put away by Rajab. Cruz continued to influence everything in the second half as his target play was causing the Wolves trouble. Cruz finally got his name on the scoresheet before adding another as Carlton pulled away from the wolves to maintain their undefeated run in the league.

2016/17 State League Championship – Round 12:

Mickleham Futsal Club (3rd) 6-3 (5th) Brimbank Futsal Club

MICK – A.Mesinovic 2, A.Boras 2, S.Tapia, Z.Hussaini (OG)
BRIM – Z.Hussaini 2, M.Rezia

The last game of the night gave Mickleham a chance to jump into 2nd following Wolves’ loss as they took on Brimbank. Brimbank started the brighter as they were on top early with Zia Hussaini bagging himself an early brace. The crafty Mickleham however were a team who always knew how to work their way back into games and they slowly managed to get goals on the board despite Brimbank’s dominance. Things went south for Brimbank toward the end of the half as they conceded multiple goals followed by the sending off of Omid Mohammadi to go down 5-2. The second half saw Mickleham in trouble with the referees as 7 fouls and 3 yellow cards against them gave Brimbank a way back into the game. The 3 goal lead at the break would be enough for Mickleham though as they ground out a win against a sharp looking Brimbank to snap second spot back off the Wolves.

Man of the Match – Arin Mesinovic (Mickleham FC)
