“If you thought 2016 was big, you won’t believe what is in store for 2017.”

That is the message from Series Futsal founder and CEO Peter Parthimos after the final game of 2016 has been run and won.

It was a break-out year for Futsal Oz and Series Futsal in 2016, with huge events and huge players contributing to the 10 year celebrations of Futsal Oz.

From names like Arnold Schwarzenegger visiting the Brunswick stadium, to the creation of the Thomastown grandstand, an outstanding Series Futsal Australia tournament in Perth, plus the acclaimed Futsal Oz Live event in July, 2016 will go down as the biggest in the company’s 10 year history.

But according to Parthimos, there is plenty more to come in 2017.

“There’s no doubt that 2016 has been a huge year. There’s been a lot of big things, but 2017 is going to be even bigger,” he told SeriesFutsal.com.

“There’s a lot of things planned for 2017. We had Falcao, Douglas Costa and Sean Garnier play in our league this year, and next year, we have even more names coming. We’re talking to some massive players from all around the world.

“If anyone thought that that 2016 was big, wait and see what we have in store for 2017. I don’t generally get scared, but I’m scared for the amazing things that we have coming.”

The emergence of Series Futsal Victoria has been one of the big success stories in the Melbourne sporting landscape, with packed grand stands enjoying the action.

However, Parthimos recognizes that there is still much work to be done to move even further forward.

“We saw the stands full here for when Sean Garnier played here, and we want to replicate that week in, week out,” he said.

“It’s not easy, we’re not there yet, but we’re pioneering stuff here. We’re going to make mistakes, but one thing is that I’m proud of my staff and we’re only going to get better.”

Series Futsal takes a break over the festive season before returning with a double header week, starting on Friday, January 13, followed by another round on Sunday, January 15.
