Tullamarine Futsal Club (2nd) 4-1 (4th) FC Prahran (Futsal Club)

TUL – J.Cheong, J.Nguyen, T.Edwards, M.Whankan
PRA – B.Grillo

Tullamarine took on a new look Prahran outfit in the first game as a slow start kept both teams tentative. Tullamarine were first to break through with superior finishing but the tempo of the game still remained low. Tulla added two more goals to be up 3-0 after 10 minutes holding that scoreline into the half. Prahran showed more fight in the second period as they pegged a goal back through a right footed strik from Ben Grillo. They were unable to add to that however as Michael Whankan finished the game off as he beat Muhammed Karagoz to seal a 4-1 victory.

Man of the Match – Trent Edwards (Tullamarine FC)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 13:

ESS – A.Jerrems, D.Pinto, N.Asvestas (OG)
NM – A.Koronakos 2, A.Derone 2, T.Sloan 2, S.Rhora 2

The second game was part of an interesting battle building at the bottom of the table with both teams split by only a single point. North Melbourne got off to a flying start as 3 quickfire goals gave them the edge early on. With Bryce Dobbie in goals Essendon managed to stabilise as an own goal from Nick Asvestas got them on the board however two more goals to North Melbourne meant that by halftime it was a healthy 4 goal lead. The second half continued much the same with Ari Jerrems and Diego Pinto getting on the scoresheet just before the game was marred by Pinto suffering a serious injury which will see him out of the Essendon side for many more games to come. In a subdued finish North Melbourne would run out 8-3 winners with Said Rhora impressing on his return to Elite Leagues while Essendon will be feeling more than just the loss tonight.

WOL – A.Lizza 3, D.Barros, D.Labombarda, Z.Bazzano

Wollert scored a big signing for the club with Adam Galioto from Fitzroy transferring as they looked to continue their push up the table. The first half was tight with a goal for Chheang for Toorak but Wollert would take the lead as Barros and Lizza scored to make the score 2-1. The second half was one of the best Wollert had played all season as they put the third placed Toorak to the sword with Adrian Lizza ending up with a big hat trick. The win takes Wollert into 4th place whilst Toorak now 11 points behind second place will be fighting them for third.

Coburg Athletic Futsal Club (8th) 5-3 (1st) RMIT Football Club

COB – C.Velluto 2, N.Amanatidis, S.Velluto, T.Rekaris
RMIT – S.Iakovlev, C.Monteleone, L.Phua

Coburg came in with a tall task ahead of themselves as they took on top of the table RMIT. But the last placed Coburg was up for the fight as they scored first and were looking impressive. RMIT not to be outdone equalised and then hit the front as Iakovlev and the new signing from Collingwood Futsal Club Cato Monteleone both netted goals. Coburg were not behind long as they equalised through Chris Velluto a minute later and were unlucky not to be ahead by the break. Lee Phua opened the second half scoring up as RMIT pulled ahead but the goal for goal pattern of the game continued with Coburg equalising with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The boys in blue dug deep as they knew points were at a premium coming toward the end of the season and the captain Stefan Velluto stood up to put Coburg in front for the first time since the opening goal. A late sealer iced the game for Coburg who provided one of the upsets of the season to put Essendon in 8th for the first time while RMIT holds only a single point lead at the top.

Man of the Match – Christopher Velluto (Coburg Ath)
