2016/17 State League One – Round 13:

Mt. Evelyn Futsal Club (4th) 4-6 (1st) Hampton Street Futsal Club

MTE – SH.Ung 2, J.Vasilevski 2
HAM – R.Langerak 2, T.Topali 2, A.Sahiti, D.Grecea

The battle from the east was set up to be a cracker as Mt Evelyn picked up League Two goalscoring sensation Jay Vasilevski as they took on their rivals Hampton. In a quality first half both teams were neck and neck with Vasilevski making an impact early with a great goal in his first run. Locked at 2-2 at the break Hampton were the ones who took the game by the scruff of the neck as goals from Grecea, Topali and Langerak turned the game on its head with Hampton jumping out to a strong 5-2 lead. Mt Evelyn had a glimmer of hope as they got a goal back from the captain Sok and a nervous feeling fell around the Hampton side. Nick Dean felt the nerves get to him as he came well out of his area to clear the ball but whiffed completely allowing Vasilevski to tap into an empty net to make it 5-4. Mt Evelyn pushed hard to get the tying goal but were foiled when with only a few seconds left it was their goalkeeper Robertson making a big error allowing Topali to score to finish the game.

Man of the Match – Adnan Sahiti (Hampton FC)

2016/17 State League One – Round 13:

CF South Melbourne (8th) 4-6 (6th) Melbourne University Futsal Club

SM – S.Hosseini 2, S.Mander 2
MU – M.Antachew 2, E.Park, T.Mullumby, S.Lally, S.Hosseini (OG)

South Melbourne saw the return of Hosseini and Hilton whilst acquiring Kosta Iakovidis to bolster the squad to take on Melbourne Uni. Without Kerry Hwang leading the team Melbourne Uni would have to fend for itself and their first half was a promising one as they scored 3 goals including a fantastic lob from Euikuk Park from inside his own half. Up 3-1 at the break Melbourne Uni added another as they looked to be cruising before South Melbourne mounted a comeback. Shervin Hosseini bagged his second while Mander added two of his own to bring the game level at four a piece. Menas Antachew broke the run though as he finished past Judicael to give them back the lead and another late goal sealed the tie in a hard fought win for Uni.

Man of the Match – Euikuk Park (Melbourne Uni FC)

2016/17 State League One – Round 13:

Vermont Futsal Club (7th) 1-7 (3rd) FC Melbourne Athletic

VER – J.Silva
MEL – M.Rojas 2, B.Oussayfi 2, E.Evans, D.Smeathers, M.Ibrahim

Following two wins on the trot Melbourne looked to pick up another as they came up against the struggling Vermont. Things continued to look bleak for Vermont as Melbourne were in control from the get go in a game that appeared to have two teams at different levels. Evans, Smeathers, Rojas and Oussayfi all scored for a solid team spread by the half whilst Vermont were still goalless. Jasper Silva managed to finish in the second period to get Vermont going but all the damage had already been done with Melbourne continuing to cruise to victory as they ran out comfortable 7-1 winners.

Man of the Match – Ed Evans (FC Melbourne)

2016/17 State League One – Round 13:

Doncaster Futsal Club (2nd) 4-2 (5th) FC Footscray (Futsal Club)

DON – A.Lee, J.Abela, M.Alkhridah, N.Hii
FOOT – Meh.Chowdhury 2

The last game of the night featured two teams who always play close fixtures and with Footscray on a 5 game win streak Doncaster would have to be at their best to grab a win. Doncaster had two new recruits in Robin Mols and Kohei Takaoka who meshed in quickly for Doncaster two take the lead with two first half goals to Lee and Abela. Two minutes before halftime a stray boot connected with Hanna Shamon’s nose as he left the field bleeding leaving Footscray down a player for the rest of the game. Jason Abela would bag a goal in the second period before a double from Mehraz Chowdhury dragged Footscray back into the game as they sat only a solitary goal behind. Try as they might Footscray could not turn around the deficit as big target Monty Alkhridah scored the sealer with under 5 minutes to go to help his team take a big 3 points to keep in the hunt at the top.

Man of the Match – Alex Lee (Doncaster FC)
