2016/17 State League Two – Round 15:

FC Essendon (Futsal Club) (8th) 1-3 (3rd) Toorak Futsal Club

ESS – A.Jong
TOO – D.Lim, KU.Seng, T.Nugraha

Essendon and Toorak welcomed League Two into the new year as they faced off in the first clash of 2017. Despite 5 places difference on the ladder only 4 points separated the two teams. Both teams started well as Alex Jong equalised the opening Toorak goal as both teams hit the board early on. Goals from Seng and Nugraha put Toorak ahead 3-1 at the break leaving Essendon to chase. Chase they did try to do as Essendon piled on the pressure on the Toorak goal, however strong defending and great goalkeeping from Dacuycuy get Essendon at bay. Both teams struggled toward the end as everyone felt the break period hurt their stamina but good goalkeeping at both ends meant the second half ended scoreless with Toorak staying in third place with a timely win.

Man of the Match – Leo Dacuycuy (Toorak FC)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 15:

Coburg Athletic Futsal Club (5th) 4-0 (2nd) Tullamarine Futsal Club

COB – C.Velluto 3, S.Velluto
TUL –

Coburg were the in form team below the top 2 of Tullamarine and RMIT and looked ready to continue their positive streak up. With debutants Xavier and Lucas Allen in the squad Coburg looked on top of Tullamarine and their star player Christopher Velluto looked back in form as he scored the only two goals of the first half. When Chris Velluto rested in the second period Nick Amanatidis stood up and took control of the game while the Allen brothers, Stefan and Matt Velluto were too strong in defence for a rusty looking Tullamarine. Even when Tullamarine created good chances Joseph Rocca in goals pulled out some unconventional and effective goalkeeping to take home a clean sheet. In the end Coburg was too strong with Chris finishing off his hat trick and Tullamarine needing to adjust after coming back from the break.

Man of the Match – Christopher Velluto (Coburg Ath)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 15:

North Melbourne Futsal Club (4th) 7-9 (1st) RMIT Football Club

NM – S.Rhora 4, Jon.Crocaris 3
RMIT – V.Marino 5, J.Serrano 2, R.Sorrano, A.Ng

North Melbourne came with a star studded line up to face the league leaders RMIT. The game started with a bang with goals at both ends as Rhora and Crocaris bagged first half braces while a spread of goals with one each to the impressive Ng as well RMIT’s top scorers Marino and Roberto Serrano. After the first half was exciting the second half took it ten levels above. Said Rhora and Jonathan Crocaris continued to run rings around the RMIT defenders while RMIT was just holding on as Julio Serrano got on the scoreboard. At 5-5 the game could go either way but Rhora added his 4th thanks to a Crocaris chip that came off the crossbar and Crocaris himself bagged a hat trick. At 7-5 to North Melbourne it looked almost set before Victor Marino stood up to take control of the game. Scoring 3 unanswered goals and 4 straight for RMIT Victor Marino single handedly put his team on his back to carry them home before Julio Serrano finished off the game with a tap in from his brother to cap off one of the most exciting games the league has ever seen.

Man of the Match – Victor Marino (RMIT FC)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 15:

FC Prahran (Futsal Club) (7th) 3-4 (6th) FC Wollert

PRA – M.Karagoz, Tas.Dounias, M.Di Grazia
WOL – D.Barros 2, A.Galioto, J.Sismanes

The last game of the round saw a rematch from the playoffs as the new Prahran boys took on Wollert once again. Much like last time these two met the game was close and physical. Prahran’s first goal came through an unusual outlet in Muhammed Karagoz but goals up the other end to David Barros and Adam Galioto meant Wollert would take the lead. Prahran would get another through Matthew Di Grazia but once two up the other end once more to John Sismanes and Barros once again meant they were still trailing. The game got tight right at the end and a Tas Dounias goal left a chance for Prahran to sneak a draw but Wollert would just hold on for another important 3 points.

Man of the Match – John Sismanes (FC Wollert)
