2016/17 State League Two – Round 17:

RMIT Football Club (1st) 7-4 (4th) Toorak Futsal Club

RMIT – V.Marino 3, J.Sugianto 2, R.McPhillips, A.Logozzo
TOO – KU.Seng 2, A.Nas 2

RMIT bounced back quickly after a heavy defeat last week to Wollert as they managed to score within the first 15 seconds. Unlike last week however the early goal did not spark an opposition onslaught as RMIT kept the lead throughout the first half thanks to doubles from Victor Marino and first gamer Jason Sugianto. Toorak had their moments with Seng scoring a double and Andrew Nas chipping in with a nice goal but saves from Gilang Tizar meant RMIT went in 5-3 up. The second half started much in the same vein with RMIT controlling the game. The league’s leading goalscorer Victor Marino bagged another hat trick and he has now scored 2+ goals in 7 out of his last 8 games. Adrian Logozzo who controlled the game from the back nabbed himself a goal with a fine finish before Nas added a consolation goal with 10 seconds remaining which was not enough to stop RMIT returning to winning ways.

Man of the Match – Adrian Logozzo (RMIT FC)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 17:

FC Prahran (Futsal Club) (7th) 5-1 (8th) FC Essendon (Futsal Club)

PRA – B.Grillo 2, T.Dounias, S.Bahamdun, M.Karagoz
ESS – A.Jong

An important battle at the bottom of the table loomed as both teams needed points to escape the bottom 3 places. It was Prahran who took charge with an inspired first half performance with Ben Grillo leading the way playing his best game yet for the club which included a brace in the first half. Saalim Bahamdun and Tas Dounias chipped in as well for Prahran to end up leading 4-0 at the halftime break. Both teams struggled to find the net in the second half until Muhammed Karagoz scored for the third week running following a corner and had a top celebration to boot. Goalkeeper Sam Scanlan had kept his clean sheet with a terrific performance and saved a penalty with a minute remaining, unfortunately for him Alex Jong scored 30 seconds later but Prahran took home the much needed points.

Man of the Match – Ben Grillo (FC Prahran)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 17:

Coburg Athletic Futsal Club (3rd) 9-1 (6th) North Melbourne Futsal Club

COB – C.Velluto 3, N.Amanatidis 2, S.Velluto, F.Stella, D.Sahyounie, A.Koronakos (OG)
NM – A.Koronakos

Coburg are currently on hot streak having won 5 out of their last 6 games and have charged up the ladder from last place. Today they took on a North Melbourne who were struggling with inconsistency. The first half saw a tight game with star Chris Velluto and first gamer Francesco Stella scoring for Coburg to give them a 2-0 halftime lead. The short North Melbourne squad struggled as the game progressed and Coburg upped the anti. The goals began to flow as Amanatidis in his chase for the golden boot grabbed two goals while captain Stefan Velluto and another first gamer in Daniel Sahyounie found the back of the net. After Rhora was dismissed for North Melbourne it went from bad to worse and Christopher Velluto capitalised and completed his hat trick. A Koronakos goal with 30 seconds remaining took away Rocca’s clean sheet but Coburg did not mind as they scooped up an 8 goal win.

Man of the Match – Christopher Velluto (Coburg Ath)

2016/17 State League Two – Round 17:

Futsal Club Wollert (5th) 8-2 (2nd) Tullamarine Futsal Club

WOL – D.Labombarda 2, L.Tsolakis 2, Ad.Galioto 2, D.Barros, B.Tawfic
TUL – C.Nguyen, J.Nguyen

Wollert were on cloud nine after smashing RMIT last week and had to back it up against second placed Tullamarine who had just come off the back off a big win themselves. Wollert wasted no time starting off right where they kicked off as they piled on 5 unsanswered goals in the first half to blow Tullamarine out of the water. Tullamarine did not know how to respond to Wollert in their new found form. By the second half the game was almost over but the intensity did not drop off. Chris and Jason Nguyen were able to grab two goals back for Tullamarine but Labombarda, Tsolakis and Adam Galioto all finished off their braces as Wollert extended their lead to six by the final whistle.
