FC Carlton Heart leader Chaaban Rajab is on the look out for a marquee player as his club edges towards a return to Series Futsal Victoria next season.

After finishing last in a disastrous 2016 Series Futsal campaign, Carlton was demoted to the State Championships where they have put last season’s demons to rest, currently undefeated and almost certain of gaining instant promotion.

In preparation for its inevitable return to Series Futsal, Rajab is keen to secure at least one experienced, high-profile star player for Carlton.

“We know how tough Series Futsal is, and while I’ve been happy with the balance of youth and experience in our current team, I know that we can’t rest on our recent success,” Rajab told SeriesFutsal.com.

“Carlton is in an ideal position to sign and support a top line player and we’ve got our feelers out for anyone who may fit that bill.”

There have been a number of recent star signings, including Welsh international Rico Zulkarnain and other short-term players like Sean Garnier.

Rajab pointed out that both of those players were “given” to Fitzroy and hopes that Carlton may get a hand out.

“It’s funny how Fitzroy always get the marquee players handed out to them. I understand it’s fantastic for the competition to have these players – as long as there is no biased towards any club,” he said.

“I feel that Carlton would be a good fit for a marquee-style player. We train twice a week, we have a strong youth and womens team and a great club culture.”
