FC Carlton Heart has confirmed its promotion back into Series Futsal Victoria after an undefeated run through the State Championships this season.

The Carlton team was the standout club, recording 17 wins and a draw to put them mathematically uncatchable at the top of the table.

Its success sees them gain automatic promotion back to Series Futsal, set to replace either Collingwood or Ashburton.

Club captain Chaaban Rajab was pleased to secure the title and return to the top.

“We’re absolutely rapt,” Rajab told SeriesFutsal.com.

“After getting relegated last season, we did the right thing – We trained every week, went undefeated and returned to Series Futsal in the best way you could.”

Despite Carlton’s dominance in the State Championship, Rajab was complimentary of the competition’s ability.

“I don’t think there’s a massive gap between Series Futsal and the State Championship,” he said.

“At the start of the season, we were way above, but as the season went on, we had some extremely close games. We were fortunate to come out on top in some cases.

“I wouldn’t say that the kevel is all that different.”

With three games of State Championships remaining, followed by a berth in the prestigious Foz Cup, Rajab says that his team will use this as the start of its return to being a competitive Series Futsal team and will aim for a top three finish.

“We feel like we can cause a few upsets at Foz Cups and in Series Futsal next season,” he said.

“With the team we have now, we have a lot more experience – I think we’ll be pushing for a top three spot – that’s our aim for the season.”
