Balwyn manager Gabriel Zeballos says that his team is aiming to finish the Series Futsal Victoria season strong after a disappointing match against league rivals Fitzroy FC last week.

Balwyn went down to Fitzroy 4-2 in a closely-fought match, and will face a in-form Metropolitan tomorrow night.

Zeballos says that the loss was a bitter blow to its charge towards the top three.

“To lose on Friday was very disappointing. We have been in great form recently and leading into that important game we were confident,” he told SeriesFutsal.com.

“Both teams are evenly matched so it could’ve gone either way. Unfortunately for us things didn’t go well.

“We move on, regroup and try and finish of the season strongly. We will take it one game at a time and if that means we finish top three then we will take it. We want to keep the pressure on and as we have all seen we are capable of beating anyone on our day. “

Balwyn welcomed back Italian star Davide Iacovissi, despite the fact that he continues to battle with injury.

And in a bonus for next season, Zeballos expects fellow Italian Marco Cardinalli back into the fold soon.

“It was great to have Davide back, he is one of the best players in the league,” he said.

“He is coming back from injury so getting him match fit will take a little time but he will get there.

“His leadership on the court is second to none so we want him fit and playing at the level he can.

“Marco Cardinalli is back but got injured playing in Italy, He is about two weeks away from re-joining the team.

“He is a quality player and target, someone we have missed greatly and if he was fit Balwyn could have been higher up the ladder. At the end of the day everyone has injuries but considering the quality of players we have had out we are fairly happy with what we have accomplished as a team.”
