Ashburton is on the brink of joining FC Collingwood in the State Championships after receiving a 7-3 defeat to the emerging Western Wolves Futsal Club last night.

The Wolves got off to a solid start, but were pegged back by Ashburton, only for the latter to lose their way on the Brunswick court.

In the other relegation battle, Metropolitan FC took a 4-3 win over Mickleham FC.

The second relegation battle for these teams will be played at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium, using Series Futsal rules, allowing teams to throw the ball in.

In the battle to reach or retain a place in State Championships, State League One team Doncaster will have its work cut out for itself after going down 6-3 to Moreland FC. Meanwhile, Brimbank FC escaped with a close 3-2 win over FC Melbourne Athletic.

In the League One and Two battles, it was the League One teams that will hold a one goal lead heading into the second match next Wednesday.

Melbourne Uni defeated FC Wollert 5-4, while CF South Melbourne edged out Tullamarine FC 3-2.
