It has only been near on 48 hours since Balwyn confirmed the return of Ben Monteleone and have no secured another start from their golden generation with the signing of goalkeeper Steve Castvan from Melbourne Futsal Club. Having been suspended in round three of the 2017 season, Castvan returned to the game with state league side Melbourne Futsal Club and has since found his passion for the game and is now ready to return to the top flight.

Castvan must of course wait until Friday week to make his second debut for Balwyn due to the transfer window still being closed.

With Balwyn already having two top line goalkeepers it lead Series Futsal to ask manager Gabriel Zeballos why he felt the need to bring in a third top quality keeper.

Gabriel Zeballos ~ “Steve is a quality keeper, and has also been with us since our State League days. When he got suspended last season he thought he would give up the game for good. When he got the opportunity to play for Melbourne he used it to see if it would re ignite his passion, it did, now he wants to play at the top level again so Balwyn was his natural choice. Due to Claytons work commitments he may not be available every week. There is also a lot of travelling involved for Clayton and he could be away for up to a month at a time. We can’t rely on having only one keeper, Not in this league. And competition for spots is always healthy. It brings out the best in people, but no doubt with Omid, Clayton and now Steve we could arguably have the best combination in the league…my opinion anyway”
