Series Futsal Victoria 2

Preston 4-3 (2-1 pen) St John’s

PRES – E Eyar 2, L Cartanos

JOHN – M Kolyvas, Y Manifavas, K Zarkos

A thrilling first half of futsal between Preston FC and St John’s. ST Johns were able to start the scoring opportunities and got their first goal within the first 5 minutes of the game starting. A great cross goal shot deflected in.

With the pressure on Preston to find the equaliser both teams continued to press forward. Silly turn overs hurt both teams but were rewarded when neither team could capitalise infront of goal. Preston able to find the equaliser but the game wasn’t tied for long with St Johns able to find their second to put them back in front a minute later.

With three minutes remaining in the game Preston were able to level out the game going into half time 2 all.

Second half under way and another thrilling second half. Preston with most of the possession but St johns weren’t going away. Both teams were able to score their third goal. With the game intensifying all players needed to step up and they did. Neither side could get the upper hand.

Both keepers were kept busy making it a very exciting game to watch. 3 all at the end of the game resulting in penalty shoot out. Preston were able to then come away with the win.

Fawkner 6-5 (3-1 pen) North City

FAWK – L Abdullatif 5,

NORT – P Reyes 4, M Michele

New comers North city welcomed to Series Futsal Victoria 2 with their first game against Fawkner. Fawkner able to get the first goal to show the comers how its done but North respond with a goal to show them they are here to stay.

Both keepers kept busy and silly errors from both teams made for a interesting contest around the ball. No team could seem to get the upper hand in the game. Going into half time 1-1.

North City continue to put it up to Fawkner with some impressive forward passes and counter attack Fawkners defence and keeper really feeling the heat. Ultimately letting their guard down and allowing North to score. Fawkner not giving up able to find the back of the net themselves.

A high scoring second half saw both teams score another four goals each to end the game 5-5 to send the game to penalties. Fawkner came away with the win in penalties.

Western Wolves 4-3 (3-2 pen) Balwyn FC

WOLV – F Nobbs 2, J Ngyuyen

BALW – S Peluso 2, S Chamma

A very tight encounter between Western Wolves and Balwyn. Wolves were able to get the first goal to give them the lead. With the pressure on Balwyn continued to press and put pressure on the Wolves defensive structure.

Balwyn able to get a quick goal to level out the game but wolves pressure late in the first half was too much to handle for Balwyn’s defence. Wolves going on to score their second goal to give them a one goal advantage at half time.

2-1 wolves lead at half time.

Another tight second half between these two teams. Both teams going on to score one goal each with five minutes remaining wolves in front by one goal. Balwyn’s defence really feeling the pressure and struggle to cope with the fast ball movement.

With under two minutes remaining Balwyn able to level out the game with Stephanie Peluso scoring her second goal for the game. With the game starting to feel the pressure. Both teams continue to push forward but also defend any counter attacks. Both teams struggling to find the equalising goal sending the game to penalties.

Western Wolves come away with the win.

CF South Melbourne 6-1 Melbourne Amazons 

SOUTH – N Italiano 3, A Idris, K Cocc, A Komijat

AMA – T Trinh

Both teams looking to get the win and both come out firing. South Melbourne able to get the scoreboard ticking over early. Scoring the first goal for the match to give them the upper hand early and putting the pressure on Amazon keeper and defence.

Amazon able to hit back and level out the game but not for long as South Melbourne able to score their second goal just minutes before half time. Going into half time with a one goal advantage. 2-1.

Second half resumes and South Melbourne inflict more pain. Going on to score another 2 more goals early in the second half to really put the pressure on. With under a minute remaining South Melbourne score their sixth goal to extend their lead out to five goals to all but seal the game.
