Wolves Are The Real Deal
It’s been a long time since we have been able to say that
about the. Western Wolves. The last Wolves team that challenged for SFV title
was full to the brim of big stars; Soufi, Kamsoba and Coulibaly just to name a
few. Is this Wolves side better placed than the previous all-star squad to win
a title? We think so.
The current Wolves side may not boast the same talent however they are a much
more balanced with the signing of Jose “Pep” Filho being the catalyst for this
Wolves resurgence. The Wolves now sit equal first after their come from behind
win against the Lions on Friday night.
Regent 0 and 7
Regent City are now officially in crisis having lost 7 games
in a row to kick of their season and sitting 9 points behind 7th
placed Altona. To say they haven’t been competitive would be unfair to a
Panthers side who has lost 4 games in penalty shoot outs and are yet to suffer
a defeat more than 3 goals. Yet something needs to change.
The Panthers are lacking belief. Regent have dropped points from winning positions
several times this season and are lacking the depth to finish off games. One
thing for sure is the mid-season transfer period is going to be telling for the
Panthers, however it may be a case of too little to late.
Moreland’s Season Revived
Moreland’s title hopes have been revived after a shaky start
to the 2018/19 season. Consecutive wins against the Wolves and Tigers has
elevated the Blues into 3rd place, just 3 points off the top of the
table Lions.
With teams dropping points around them the Blues will now hope they can find
the sort of consistency required to challenge for the top spot. A big win over
the Tigers saw their star studded team firing on all cylinders to send a
message to the rest of the competition, and if they can maintain this form then
it’s only a matter of time before they find themselves in a battle for top
spot.
Heart’s Missed Opportunity
The Heart missed a golden opportunity to climb into 1st
place on Friday night after witnessing the Lions go down to the Wolves earlier
in the night. The Heart had a commanding lead at 5-2 against the Warriors
before what can only be described as a lack of focus to allow Campbellfield to
score 4 goals on the trot before the Heart equalized in the dying seconds.
The Warriors would go on to win the penalty shoot-out, leaving the Heart to
wonder where it all went wrong and plenty to ponder going into future rounds.
