FITZROY FC 2–5 FC CARLTON HEART

FIT- D. Georgi & C. Fruscalzo
CAR- J. Au 2, S. Peluso, R. Davies & Own Goal

Our first womens fixture saw a strong Fitzroy side take on a Carlton Heart team desperate to redeem themselves after last weeks last second loss to Northcote.

Our game kicked off with an extremely early goal as Stephanie Peluso struck from close-range to open the scoring for Carlton. The spectators weren’t done being treated to goals from Carlton Heart stars as Rebecca Davies struck the second of the game which was followed by a fantastic Jessica Au goal to make it 3-0. Fitzroy would then score through Deanna Fruscalzo to close the gap, but that was all for the Tigers as the half closed at 3-1 to Carlton, leaving plenty of room for predictions for the second half.

We opened the second half with a horror own goal from Em Coppock as she headered it into her own net, which was then followed up by another Au goal. Fitzroy were looking like a new side though as they held their own for majority of the half, eventually firing a goal to close the deficit through Dharma Georgi. That was it for the match though as Fitzroy just couldn’t find their attacking prowess as they fell to Carlton Heart 2-5.

Player of the Game: Paige Daly (Carlton Heart)

PASCOE VALE FC 5–0 MELBOURNE AMAZONS FC

PVA- B. Silva 3 & P. Ribas 2
AMA-

It was top of the table Pascoe Vale who were looking to build off of a dominant first round performance as they faced a Melbourne Amazons looking to get the first win of the season.

We kicked off with Pascoe Vale looking well and truly up for it for the second round in a row, as they opened the scoring early through Bruna Silva to make it 1-0. It didn’t take long for the second though as the Lionesses doubled their lead through a goal from Priscilla Ribas. The game evened out after the second goal as the Amazons side began to gain some momentum, but it was another Silva strike that goalkeeper Magi Shehata fumbled through her legs that closed the half at 3-0 to Pascoe Vale.

Our second half played out much like the first as we were treated to more goals. Pascoe Vale held their own defensively as well, as they kept their cleansheet whilst also stretching their lead by two goals. It was a Ribas goal to make her brace and a Silva goal to make her hattrick that saw Pascoe Vale win 5-0 but it was an all-round great performance from every player. We were treated to quality goals but some fantastic saves aswell as both Shehata and Madeleine Nobbs made crucial saves for their sides.

Player of the Game: Bruna Silva (Pascoe Vale FC)
