Recap
The second game of the night saw defending champions Pascoe Vale take on Hume in an encounter that has generally favoured Pascoe in the past. It was the Champs who went behind first, however, as the ball deflected in off Brenno Polatti for an own goal to give Hume the lead. The lead was soon doubled for the black Army when constant goal threat Moe Matar struck past Rasoulzadeh. Pascoe are not a team to let any team get away from them in a contest, and they soon struck back, scoring 2 goals in a as many minutes to level the scores up at two a piece. Captain Andre Caro, who is still not at full fitness, struck first before a minute later Thiago Martins levelled it up. There was still one more twist left in the first half, however, as Hume leader Nejdett Sahin put Hume back in front with 30 seconds left.
The second half started with Pascoe levelling things up again as Joao Da Silva slotted home from the penalty spot after Tony Saric was deemed to have handled it in the area.. It was a much closer and more hard fought contest in the second period as Hume could sense a chance at a rare win over Pascoe. It wasnt until inside the last 10 minutes of the half that another goal was scored as Tony Saric tapped home a pass from a side ball from close range to put Hume back in front. Shellshocked, Pascoe started to desperately search for a way back into the game as tempers flared on both sides. This culminated in Brenno Polatti being sent off for a second bookable offence with five minutes remaining. Hume seized on this opportunity to put the game beyond Pascoe as Sahin stepped up and rocketed home a shot into the top right corner. With three minutes left Pascoe resorted to playing fifth man to salvage something from the match, but Franno Saric marshalled his team well to deny Pascoe any clear cut chances. A incredibly hard fought win for Hume who seem to be improving with every season, as for Pascoe, it looks as if their title defence may be more difficult than perhaps the were expecting.
Man of the Match: Nejdett Sahin (Hume FC)
