The third game of the night saw the battle of the two newly promoted teams to the NIKE Series Futsal, Brunswick and Ashburton. Ashburton had enjoyed a better start life in the top flight of Futsal Oz Elite League futsal, with two wins and a draw from their first five games. Brunswick had not fared so well with just one win in five. Brunswick got off to the worst possible start as the ball deflected in off Ben Rigby for an own goal to put Ashburton in front. Mehran Shafiei then finished from the right side, before Ahmed Hassani finished from the left to open up a three goal lead. Joshua Pulvirenti finished into the bottom right corner to peg one back, but Behrad Behzadpour would beat two defenders and finish to restore the three goal lead. Hassani from close range after the ball was loose after a save from Bush, before goals from Mark Borchert and Chris Triantafilopoulos brought the Ashburton lead back to 5-3 going into half time.
The second half was all Ashburton and the onslaught started when Shafiei beat two defenders and found bottom corner for his second of the match. Shafiei then wrapped up his hatrick when he was teed up to finish from the edge of the area. Ruz Rozlan would finish a rebound from a Omid Azami save to keep Brunswick within three, but they would not score again. The Bloods suffered some more misfortune when a Shafiei shot would deflect in off Triantafilopoulos for an own goal. Iraj Hani got in on the act finishing from a free kick on the left side as AShburton started to run away with the match. As Brunswick looked to salvage something from the match they pushed too far up and left themselves exposed at the back. This allowed Ahmed Hassani to pick up his third and fourth goals of the match on the counter, to wrap up a impressive performance from Ashburton.
