Recap
The first game of Round 8 saw a mid table clash as Carlton took on Hume. Hume got on the front foot first as target Ubeyde Cicek opened the scoring smart finish on his favoured left foot. The lead was the doubled when Resit Culculoglu finished soon after. After Hume’s two early goals the game settled down some what as Carlton began to grow into the game. The Heart managed to string better periods of possession together but struggled to break down Hume’s astute defence. Eventually Hume’s excellent defending would allow them to hit on the counter, with Cicek breaking down the left before squaring it for Ahmed Azzam to tap home to give the men in black a strong 3-0 lead going into half time.
The second half is where the game burst into life as the two teams scored 10 goals between them. Joey Conroy got the Carlton on the board, minutes into the second period, before Nejdett Sahin would hit straight back for Hume after being set up from a free kick. Cicek picked up his second of the match after the ball rebounded back off Puthalakath in Carlton’s goal, but soon after Chaaban Rajab would set up Cameron Holmes to finish at the back post, to peg one back for the Heart. Cicek then completed his hatrick by drifting across the court from the right before sliding a shot into the bottom right corner. A period of sustained pressure would see Carlton Iggy Lahiff-Jenkins score on his Carlton debut, however, Cicek was in the mood today as he finished his fourth and fifth goals of the match to have the score line reading 3-8 to the Black Army. Nejdett Sahin would add one more for Hume, before Joey Conroy grabbed a mere consolation with seconds remaining, as Hume rounded off a convincing win.
