Recap
The third installment of Series Futsal action for Round 14 saw another bottom vs top clash as seventh placed Metropolitan matched up against second placed Balwyn. Metro have finally started to find some form in Series Futsal and were looking for their third win on the trot, while Balwyn were looking to bounce back after only picking up one point from their last two games. Balwyn hit the front first through a bottom right corner finish from Oscar Magrina, before Metro levelled it up with a top left corner rocket from Dino Redzepovic. Robert Amrellini then slotted home from the edge of the area to put Balwyn in front again and that was how it would stay until half time.
The second half was a much more open affair and it started with D.Redzepovic smashing home a trademark free kick to put Metro level once again. Balwyn’s new signing Daniel Cappellaro was then found at the back post to finish before Andrea Zaccone finished to give Balwyn a two goal buffer. Metro were not to be outdone, however, as they hit back with two goals in quick succession from Mohammed Alghorabi, who was found at the back post twice to level it up once again. The pendulum would swing back in Balwyn’s favour as Cappellaro would thread a ball to the back post for Armellini who poked it home to have Balwyn leading once more. Metro’s never say die attitude showed though, and Alija Redzepovic would twist and turn his way through Balwyn’s defence before poking his effort past Abdollahi. Metro could sense that there was an upset on the cards and their intensity on the court was finally rewarded in the last 10 seconds of the match when Alex Cobo won the ball at half way before playing in Salih Sefil who scored with 1 second left to seal a dramatic upset win.
