The third match of the Round 15 saw a battle of the bottom two as bottom placed Carlton desperately looked to gain some ground on seventh placed Metro. It was the Heart that got off to the better start as their young gun, Dylan Govic put them in front after he was set up for a tap in from close range. Govic then doubled his his sides lead as he was found for another tap in after some good ball movement from Carlton. This second seemed to spark Metro into action finally and eventually they pegged one back, when Selim Karanfil slammed home a free kick. Karanfil was at it again before the half was out as he took a touch to bring down Dino Redzepovic’s long ball, before finishing past Puthalakath. Brace’s to Govic and Karanfil would see the scores at two a piece as we went into the break.

The second half was a similarly close affair as both teams fought hard to secure a vital three points. Minutes into the second period Joey Conroy was played through and he made no mistake finishing into the bottom right corner. Carlton’s lead was short lived, however, as moments later Tomislav Grgic was found un marked at the back post to level things up once more. Karanfil then completed his hatrick as he took one touch to control before sliding his effort past Lee and into the back of the net. Soon after, Salih Sefil stepped up and drilled one of his characteristic long range strikes into the right side of the goal. Carlton would desperately press forward to try and salvage at least a point from the game, however some last minute heroics in goal from Cem Bicer would keep the score at 5-3 as Metro rounded out a crucial win.
