The prime time fixture of the night saw an enticing match up between this seasons surprise package, Ashburton and league leaders Pascoe Vale. Pascoe would open the scoring within the first few seconds of the match as they moved the ball round well, before Richard Ferguson found Joao Da Silva at the back post who finished calmly. The game settled after this early flurry, however, Pascoe would dominate possession for the entire half as Ashburton looked to hit on the counter. Eventually though, Da Silva would add his second of the match as he took the ball down the left before toe poking his effort past Azami. Andre Caro would add his sides third of the match with a well placed strike from just outside the area. Shams Haidari would slide home an effort past Peter Tamburrino in the last minute of the half to get one back for AShburton, as they went into the break trailing 1-3.
The second half was a very scrappy affair which saw no goals scored from either side. The contest was still fierce and the game got increasingly heated as Ashburton desperately searched for something from the game. Multiple yellow cards were shown to players from both sides. Pascoe Vale would continue to dominate possession, however the struggled to create clear cut chances. Ashburton would have their fair share of chances but Tamburrino in goals for Pascoe would pull of a string of great saves to keep his sides lead until the final whistle.
