Recap
The second installment of Series Futsal Action for Round 16 saw a Carlton side desperate for point, come up against a Hume side fresh off an upset win against Balwyn last week. Cuneyt Aydin opened the scoring as he arrived into the area to connect with Joey Conroy’s pass across the edge of the area. Straight from kick off, however, the ball found Ubeyde Cicek on the right side of the court, just outside the area, and he powered home his shot into the roof of the net. Moe Matar was next to score for Hume as he found the back of the net from a tight angle on the left side of the court. Finally, Ahmed Azzam would find the back of the net to have The Black Army leading 3-1 at the break.
The second half saw Hume continue from where they left off as Azzam netted his second of the match. Carlton improved their performance to their credit and managed to lock down their defenece and create some chances of their own in the middle part of the second half. Eventually, however, Hume broke through again as Matar’s low drilled shot proved too hot to handle for Carlton’s Nam Cao. The Heart finally got their second of the match through Ernie Simsek as he finished one on one past Frano Saric. A clumsy foul from Atay Ibrahim gifted Hume a penalty, which was dispatched into the top right corner by Jason Barrientos. Joey Conroy added a consolation for the heart with less than a minute remaining but Hume would come away with an important three points.
