Recap
The prime time slot for the night saw a cracking match up as rivals Fitzroy and Pascoe Vale battled it out for the Youth Health Cup once again. It was Fitzroy who got on the front foot first this time, looking to make amends for their narrow loss against Pascoe last time round. Scott Rogan opened the scoring at the back post after a brilliant run down the left from Angleo Fusca, in what was perhaps the assist of the season so far. Fitzroy were on top for a large part of the first half and soon the score was 2-0 to Fitzroy when Alistair Dunlop lashed home a loose ball from just outside the area. Had it not been for some excellent shot stopping from Pascoe’s Felipe Bley, the champions may have gone into half time more than two goals down, but Bley made sure the score remained close going into the break.
The second half saw a very even affair as Pascoe grew into the game more but Fitzroy still had plenty of chances. After a period of pressure from Pascoe, they eventually broke through, when Caro hit a ball to the back post for Richard Ferguson to volley home. Fitzroy would turn it on once again and for net 10 minutes or so they would create the majority of the chances, but a combination of poor finishing, some bad luck, and some excellent keeping from Bley meant they would fail to find the back of the net. This would allow Pascoe to eventually break through again as this time Ferguson laid the ball off for Caro who powered home an effort in off the right post. A frantic final few minutes ensued, but neither team were able to break each other down, as another thrilling Fitzroy-Pascoe match up would end in a draw.
