Recap
For both teams this game was inconsequential to their overall position on the table. Nonetheless for both teams it was about pride. For Carlton a win over the series futsal champions would prove that they could still compete at the top level despite facing relegation. For Pascoe Vale it was another chance to show how good they are.
The first half displayed some very slow futsal as the two teams felt each other out. Carlton showed their best attacking play with some big chances on Pascoe Vale’s goal. Through all of the attacks they only managed to find themselves one goal through their captain Chaaban Rajab. As the game flowed on so did Pascoe Vale as they started to show their class and managed to make a breakthrough in the game through Brenno Polatti. The half time score line reflected what had been a fairly lackluster first half with the teams tide at one goal a piece.
The second half started the same way as the first had finished with both teams unable to find the back of the net. Pascoe Vale soon made sure to break this trend with a tap in from Mauricio Novak in his return game after a year out with a torn ACL. Following this goal Pascoe Vale found their usual swagger as they scored goals from all across the court with three goals coming in the last ten minutes of the game to put Carlton’s chances to rest.
In the end the match reflected where the two teams where at coming to the end of the season with Pascoe Vale continuing to show they are the best and Carlton struggling for consistency.
