Recap
Having defeated the in form Brunswick Fitzroy had a much bigger task set out for them; coming up against the league champions in Pascoe Vale. Pascoe Vale knew they had the edge in the game having won both the fixtures against Fitzroy during the season.
Fitzroy started the game well applying good pressure to their classy opponents and not allowing any of the key play makers from Pascoe Vale a chance to get into the game. The first half was an arm wrestle as each team tried to get the better of the other. With possession a fleeting thing as each team’s defensive efforts where fantastic. Finally a break through came in favor of Fitzroy through their star play maker Scott Rogan. This remained the case for most of the first half until Richard Ferguson from Pascoe Vale found a breakthrough. As half time rolled around the two teams sat equal at one goal a piece.
The second half started in the same manner as the first with both teams neck and neck throughout neither team able to break through the defense of the other. This lasted for ten more minutes before Andre Caro powered home a fantastic goal from the corner of the pitch. The proved to be the turning point in the game. After the goal Fitzroy looked flat and Pascoe Vale looked unstoppable. It looked like nothing Fitzroy did would keep Pascoe out as they went on to score two more goals and win comfortably.
Fitzroy will be proud of their effort following the win over Brunswick and competing hard with Pascoe Vale. Pascoe Vale will prepare to take on the winner of Hume vs Balwyn in the Futsal Oz Cup final.
