Recap
Ashburton comes into its match with Collingwood without a win in the 2016/2107 season and they were hoping to break that record.
Collingwood is coming off the back of a close loss to Brunswick and will be hoping to rectify it with a win.
The game started similarly to every Ashburton game so far this season with Ashburton scoring early. This felt different though as Ashburton seemed to have Collingwood under a lot of pressure with their press. This lead to Ashburton scoring 3 more times to lead Collingwood by four goals less than ten minutes into the half. It only got worse for Collingwood as their attacks continued to fizzle. Collingwood remained unable to score and went into the break losing six goals to none.
Collingwood came out with more vigor in the second half. They were able to spend more time on the ball and managed to score an early goal to give themselves a chance of a comeback. It was not long until Ashburton was able to put another goal away to undo Collingwood’s hard work. This was the story of the remainder of the half as every goal Collingwood scored was quickly answered by Ashburton. The final scoreline read ten goals to three in Ashburton’s favour.
