Recap
Fitzroy will be hoping to make it three wins on the trot as it looks to takes on a Brunswick side that is galvanizsed by its win against Balwyn last week.
Brunswick came into the game as minor underdogs, despite holding a higher ladder-position at kick-off. That did not bother the boys from Brunswick at all. To the surprise of the jam-packed grandstand, Brunswick took the game to Fitzroy and scored the opening goal of the game. Both keepers were on fire in the first half, keeping the scoreline at 1-0, with Brunswick taking a surprising lead into the half-time break.
As the second half kicked off, Rico Zulkarnain made his mark on his return from a groin injury. The Welsh wizard equalised for Fitzroy then scored again seconds later to give Fitzroy the lead. He completed his hat-trick by chipping Brunswick’s keeper, widening Fitzroy’s lead. From there, it was all one-way traffic as Fitzroy’s stars lit up. They hit Brunswick with a barrage of attacking play, putting the ball in the back of the net a total of seven times to take out a comprehensive win and move above their opponents in the ladder on goal-difference.
