Recap
Brunswick demolished Metro last week putting 10 goals on the board in a dominant display. Their opponents this week, Collingwood, where again defeated leaving them with only a single win for the season. Brunswick come in hot favorites but will be nervous given the gutsy displays Collingwood have shown in the past few weeks.
The game was ebbing and flowing from the first minute with both teams making strong attacks but neither able to put the ball in the net. The goal keepers at both ends where in top form protecting their goals with some brilliant saves coming straight from the top shelf. It was Brunswick who managed to breakthrough first with Vic Vipers gun Adam Cooper sprinting down the line and setting up Josh Pulvarenti at the back post. Collingwood looked rattled after conceding and Brunswick worked hard to take advantage manufacturing attack after attack. Each one looked more dangerous than the last but Collingwood goal keeper Anthony Cianflone looked unbeatable. His courageous efforts keeping his team in the game and opening opportunities for them to hit back. Collingwood took their chance and equalized. The satisfaction was short lived though as Brunswick again opened up the Collingwood defence late to lead by one goal at the half.
The second half followed a similar story as the first with both teams attacking but neither able to break through. For ten minutes the game was back and forth until Brunswick managed a breakthrough goal giving them a two goal buffer. The game looked dead and buried as the classy Brunswick side began to take control of the game. This was short lived though as some gritty Collingwood attack managed to break down the Brunswick defence for another goal. Brunswick was quick to react again scoring to put the game to bed.
