Recap
Both Brunswick and Hume have been in impressive form over the last few weeks and both will be hoping to continue that form into this game with every point counting at the top of the table a win to either team could be crucial for title chances. Hume are coming off the back of a massive win against Collingwood as Brunswick will be ecstatic about their win over Balwyn last week.
The game was end to end from the first whistle as both teams fought to get the ascendancy but both defenses where too good to let that happen. The efforts of the goal keepers for both teams where inspirational as it looked impossible for a break through to come. That was until Moe Matar was given an opportunity and took it. Slamming the ball into the back of the keepers net. The game then settled into an arm wrestle again as both goal keepers put on an absolute master class. Finally late in the half Ben Rigby found himself at the right place at the right time and equalised the score. This break through didn’t last long though as some poor defending in the box saw Brunswick keeper Christos Apostolakis stuck in a two on one and conceded a second goal right before half time.
The game made no move to open up in the second half as again the teams defended heroically and again both goal keepers looked unbeatable. Tension began to rise due to the close nature of the game it looked as though it could boil over into an all in at any moment. Brunswick used this to their advantage as they got into the heads of the Hume players and scored an easy goal through Hume’s disorganization. Again the scores say level and again the game stagnated; that was until Resit Colculoglu took advantage of an opening and Hume again took the lead. This proved too much for Brunswick to overcome as they failed to score again and fell just short of their opponents.
