Fitzroy have given themselves an opportunity to find their way into the top four after overcoming a tough Ashburton outfit.

The match was hard fought from start to finish with a lot of missed opportunities costing the favourites. Fitzroy looked to be taking over the game with a two nil lead at the start of the second half as they peppered the Ashburton goals. Suddenly the misses came back to haunt them as Ashburton fired home two quick goals. The deadlock wasn’t broken until a tight shootout ended in Fitzroy’s favour.

The result leaves Ashburton in the bottom two with no chance of recovery and ending up bottom spot as a real threat.
