Hume has beaten the champions Pascoe Vale in another thrilling encounter in front of a packed grandstand at Futsal Oz’s Thomastown stadium.

The rivals played out a hotly contested and fiery match despite top spot not being on the line this time around.

The two teams fought to wrestle momentum from each other in the first half, but it was Hume who took a one goal lead into the half time interval.

Hume extended its lead in the second half but Pascoe Vale fought back to level the scores at three goals a piece.

A controversial free kick was awarded to Pascoe Vale despite desperate appeals from the Hume players who were positive that the Pascoe Vale player had slipped and was not brought down due to any fault of their own.

Sofianne Soufi scored the resulting free kick to send the Pascoe Vale fans into pandemonium and leave the Hume players seething.

Hume had the chance to equalise when it was awarded a ten-metre penalty for Pascoe Vale’s sixth foul of the game; but Moe Matar failed to convert from ten metres, putting the ball wide.

Matar’s blushes were saved less than thirty second s later when Hume captain Nejdett Sahin fired home to pull his team back level and send the game to penalties.

Pascoe Vale failed to score any of its three penalties, with Hume’s keeper Frano Saric saving two spot-kicks. Sahin converted his penalty and that turned out to be enough to give Hume all three points and help it secure second spot on the Series Futsal ladder.
