Carlton have edged Pascoe Vale in a thrilling encounter in front of a raucous crowd at Futsal Oz’s Thomastown Stadium.
The match was close from start to finish, and there was hardly a dull moment as the two sides matched each other stride for stride.
The controversy started in the first half when Ernie Simsek was alleged to have brought the ball down with the aid of his arm, before slotting the ball past Pascoe Vale keeper Dianoosh Rasoulzadeh to give Carlton a two-one lead which they took into the half-time break.
The second half was even more entertaining than the first, and both sides showed why they’ve each won one of the last two Series Futsal Victoria championships.
Abdirahman Ahmed was on fire for Carlton in the second half, scoring twice.
A well-worked passage of play that involved a clever pullback from Jackson Georgi to assist Ernie Simsek’s second goal of the game was met with roars of approval from the crowd, but Pascoe Vale were not ready to lay down and be beaten, despite Joao Da Silva being given his marching orders for his second bookable offence of the game.
An array of individual brilliance from Lucas Vaz and Pascoe Vale’s best player on the night, Rico Hauser, helped Pascoe Vale get back in the game.
But ultimately Carlton had too much for the 2016/17 champions, winning the game and becoming the only undefeated team remaining in Series Futsal Victoria this season, after just three rounds.
