Fitzroy have managed to do what they didn’t do last week and justify their favourite-status and beat Brunswick.

Fitzroy got off to a strong start with goals from Scott Rogan and Cosimo Russo putting them in a commanding position going into the half-time break.

But Brunswick’s Anthony Brown scored for his side seconds before the half-time whistle to give Brunswick something to build on in the second half.

But Fitzroy were the first to strike in the second half when Jimmy Soufis hit a powerful shot on his weaker-foot into the bottom right corner past a stunned Christos Apostolakis in the Brunswick goal.

As Brunswick looked to find a way to get back into the game, Alistair Dunlop got himself on the scoresheet and put the result beyond doubt for Fitzroy.

The win put Fitzroy just three points behind ladder-leaders Carlton Heart after the Heart went down to the Wolves earlier tonight.
