Recap
Next up saw ladder leaders Richmond looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat as they took on the tricky Preston FC side. Despite early chances for Preston, Richmond would strike first through the leagues leading scorer Em Coppock with the simplest of finishes. It was soon two when Penny Bakopoulos beat a couple of players before thumping one home to double the advantage. Preston pulled one back through Pam Demetriou who made no mistake with her finish. Richmond would then step it up a notch with Monica Fonua converted to restore the two goal advantage before a bizzare own goal from Preston keeper Pam Zaharias made it 4-1. Coppock would then get her second of the contest before Mel Camilleri converted to have Richmond in with a comfortable 6-1 lead at the break.
The second half saw Preston lock ip their defence a little more and it showed as Richmond were unable to convert their chances which became more and more difficult to create. They did break through eventually though with Coppock completing her hat trick before Camilleri added her second of the contest. Coppock then got her fourth finishing a long throw from Fonua first time and Camilleri completed her hat trick to have Richmond in control. Stacey Papadopoulos would get one back for Preston but it wouldn’t count for much as Richmond held on for the three points.
