Recap
The final round of 2017 saw Moreland face Preston as both sides looked to finish the year on a high. Preston had seen a dip in form recently but got off to the perfect start as they struck first through Stacey Papadopoulos. The lad lasted only a few moments as Melissa Missailidis got her side level and from there they would add a further three goals in the half unanswered as Anna Peers-Barlow, Missailidis & Amy Kane added to the scoresheet going into the break leading 4-1.
The second half began in the same vein as the first with Papadopoulos converting her second of the game to keep her side in with a chance of a comeback. Emma Hubbard would add two quick goals to all but kill off the fightback, though Preston were not giving up as Papadopoulos created another chance for newcomer Ashleigh Niutta to grab her first goal. Hubbard would add a further two to her tally making it four second half goals for her which rounds out a solid year for Moreland which saw them claim their first title early in the year and sit in third place at the minute. While Preston remain mid table but are having a successful first season.
