Last time these two teams met in the regular season the result was decided in a penalty shoot out. With that as the backdrop for the clash in the Foz cup the game looked an exciting prospect.
The game didn’t disappoint as both teams fought hard in a game that was decided by a solitary goal. Balwyn managed to come out on top with two goals late in the second half proving the difference.
There where outstanding performances from both sides as Ben Monteleone put in a man of the match performance in his first game for his new club Balwyn, he wasn’t alone as fellow first gamer and ex-Collingwood player Giovanni Garcia showed his best. Brunswick where kept in the game by some amazing keeping by Christos Apostolakis and some amazing play by Mathew Vragovski.
The spirit shown by both teams was a real marvel as they both impressed. Balwyn will now face champions Pascoe Vale for a spot in the Foz cup final.
