The opening day of Series Futsal Australia competition is set to be an explosive one, with a number of crucial matches likely to set the tone for this weekend’s Cup tournament.

FC Balwyn and Adelaide Fusion will meet in the first match, followed by the much-anticipated clash between reigning champions Claremont Cambio Cumbre and former Cup winners Pascoe Vale FC.

This clash between the two heavy weights of the Cup is likely to have a huge baring on the outcome of the competition.

Cambio Cumbre star player and spokesperson Gerardo Soto said that the game will set the tone for the entire three-day tournament.

“Having played against all the big clubs in Australia, for me, Pascoe is the toughest team,” Soto told SeriesFutsal.com.

“Any of their players can make a difference and they’re all experienced.

“For us, it will set the intensity for the tournament.”

Pascoe Vale captain Andre Caro says he is looking forward to the opening day fixture.

“I’m looking forward to playing against one of the best clubs in Australia,” he said.

“Cambio Cumbre has been together for a while and they know each other inside out. Every time we play them, it’s a good game. It should be no different on Friday.”

The other two games on the opening day will see Fitzroy FC take on Adelaide-based Gepps Cross FC, while reigning Foz Cup champions Hume FC take on Cunning Ultra Tigers FC from West Australia.
